King Derby, a retro horse race where you back a pair
Six pixel-art horses, a fresh odds board before each race and bets on which two horses come home first. What the three 918Kiss screens show.
King Derby looks like an arcade cabinet from the 1980s, and it plays like one. There are no reels. Six chunky pixel horses run round a green and brown track, and before each race you bet on which two of them will cross the line first.
The odds board
The betting screen is a triangle of boxes. Horse numbers 2 to 6 run across the top and 1 to 5 down the side, so every box is one pair: 1-2, 1-3 and so on up to 5-6. Each box has the odds in yellow and your stake in red beneath it. On the board we have, 2-3 was priced at just 3 and 3-5 at 5, while 1-3 stood at 200, 2-6 at 500 and 2-4 at 1000. There is one box per pair, not one per order, so a 5-6 bet should cover either horse winning with the other second.
On the right, LAST 5R RESULTS lists recent finishes (5-6 at 125 was the last one). Round buttons set the bet at 0, 1, 10 or 50, a FAST MODE switch speeds up the race, and a red strip along the bottom reads JACKPOT X3 X4 X5 FREE HORSE, which the screenshots don't explain further. The COINS counter went from 45 to 43 once the bets were in.
The race
The race runs as a side-scrolling cartoon: a starter waves the flag, the horses bunch round the bend and the camera follows them to the finish, with WIN and COINS along the bottom.

Questions people ask
How do you bet on King Derby?
Before each race the NEW ODDS board lists every pair of horses from 1-2 to 5-6 with its odds. You pick a bet size with the round buttons (1, 10 or 50) and place coins on the pairs you think will finish first and second.
Do the odds stay the same every race?
No. The board is headed NEW ODDS and changes each race. On the board we have, the 2-4 pair was priced at 1000 and the 2-3 pair at only 3.
What do Starter, Finisher and Sprinter mean?
They're notes on the board naming a horse for each (1, 2 and 5 in our shot). They look like hints about how each runs, but the result of every race is still decided by the game, so treat them as decoration.
